Set in New York in 1938, Sylvia Gellburg becomes paralysed by the devastating news of Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany, where government thugs have begun smashing Jewish stores. Sent to treat Sylvia, Dr Hyman learns more about the problems she is having in her personal life and in particular her marriage. The play comes to a head when Sylvia and her husband confront their feelings.
